Kibbutz Galon

Gal On (Hebrew: גַּלְאוֹן, גל און, lit. Wave of Strength) is a kibbutz in Israel's southern lowlands associated with the Hashomer Hatzair movement and its Kibbutz Artzi settlement organization (now part of the Kibbutz Movement). Established as part of the 11 points in the Negev settlement drive in 1946 it is located approximately ten kilometers north east of Kiryat Gat and two kilometers east of Beit Guvrin. The kibbutz is administered as part of the Yoav Regional Council.

History

History
Galon – Kibbutz Hashomer Hatzair Gal On is located on the borders of the coastal plain and in proximity to the Hebron hills. It was established on October 6th, 1946, the afternoon of Yom Kippur, on Jewish National Fund land, with funding by the Keren Hayesod. It was founded along with 10 other settlements settled that day in the south and the Negev.
